Stampede in the Park 5K run is an excellent race course over soft surfaced, wooded and paved trails through LENORA Park, one of scenic spot in Gwinnett County.  If you have never been to LENORA Park, you are in for a real treat. This race benefits the Meadowcreek High School Cross Country Program.

Event details and schedule

Finish-Line Refreshments:  Water and refreshments at the finish line. 

Awards:  Top 3 in each division: 13 and under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49,

50 -59, and 60 and Over. Masters for female and male 40 and over. No awards will be mailed.

 

START YOUR 5K TRAINING

 A Few Minutes Each Week

Each session should take about 20 or 30 minutes, three times a week that includes a warm up and stretching routine at the beginning and then stretching and light jogging at the end.

 

Be sure to space out these three days throughout the week to give yourself a chance to rest and recover between efforts.

 

Don't worry about how fast you're going. Focus on gradually increasing the time or distance you run.

 

Run for time or run for distance

 

Measure your runs by time or by distance. Either one works just as well, choose the option that seems easiest for you to keep track of.

 

 If you go with the distance option and you are not using a track to measure the distances, just estimate. It's not important to have the distances absolutely exact.

 

Change the scenery


At least once a week, find a new, interesting place to run. Check out a local park or neighborhood with sidewalks to do your runs.  Try running on different surfaces, sidewalks, grass, soft trails, or sand.
